Το ταμπελάκι δεν σημαίνει και δεν αποδεικνύει τίποτα, δεν έχει νομική υπόσταση. Είναι βιδωτό, μεταφέρεται από μοτό σε μοτό και φυσικά <<χτυπιέται>> με ότι νούμερα θες, μιας και πωλείτε σαν ανταλλακτικό ΑΓΡΑΦΟ – ΑΚΤΥΠΗΤΟ .

Όλα τα πλαίσια έχουν κανονικά χτυπημένα νούμερα εκεί που δείχνει η φωτό , πίσω αριστερά. Μην σε μπερδεύει η έκφραση :
This is the VIN on the frame of the same R51/3. It is on the left side of the bike and on the casting that holds the rear plunger spring. The thick paint is covering up the two BMW logos. This is the location of the post war bikes until the very last of the /3 production, <<when the frame number was moved up to the side of the steering head>>.Μιλάμε σαφώς για κανονικά χτυπημένα νούμερα στο λαιμό και όχι μόνο στο αλουμινένιο ταμπελάκι.
Κάποια R51/3 τελευταίας παραγωγής έχουν κτυπημένα νούμερα στο λαιμό, αλλά μιλάμε πάντα για κτύπημα στο πλαίσιο με τις μικρές σφραγίδες με το σήμα της BMW (logo) στην αρχή και τέλος του αριθμού. Κοιτά λοιπόν εάν έχει κανονικά νούμερα στο λαιμό.
