Exclamation Enduro Tires test „Motorrad“ 2008

Eίχα πει στο τόπικ με τα ελαστικά, πως κρατήστε το γεγονός ότι οι δοκιμές έγιναν σε Γερμανική άσφαλτο.
Οπότε, στην Ελλάδα τα πράγματα αντιστρέφονται. Αυτό που αντέχει πολλά χιλιόμετρα στη Γερμανία και κρατάει πολύ καλά, στην Ελλάδα πιάνει πάτω στο κράτημα λόγω σκληρής γόμας.
Αυτά που στην Γερμανία δεν έχουν αντοχή σε χιλιόμετρα, στην Ελλάδα είναι σε ικανοποιητικό επίπεδο χιλιομέτρων κι ας έχουν μαλακή γόμα. Η μαλακή γόμα όμως έχει καλύτερο κράτημα.
Αυτά τα λέω για να συγκρίνετε το Conti με το EXP

171 points, place 1:
On dry surface the Trail Attack presents itself in
grandiose form. Apart from the very good stability in a
straight line comes a neutral and easy-steering
presentation. Even stability in corners, with and without a
passenger, is very good. The same goes for feedback. On
uneven surface Trail Attack excels with good inherent
suspension and it also has the best grip when leanedover.
Also very good is its braking performance. With
9.4m/s² and a braking distance of 41 metres from 100kph
Trail Attack shares second place with Metzeler. The
tendency to stand up during braking is minimal.
WET
77 points, place 3:
During acceleration, the rear tyre spins rather early, but
loses grip in corners only with extreme lean angles. On
the whole, the warning zone is rather narrow. Braking
performance on wet surface is fantastic, with a
deceleration of 7.8 m/s² and a braking distance of 49.5
metres from 100 kph – best in test.
WEAR
81 points, place 1:
The rear could last 8,900 kilometres and the front 13,000
kilometres. The combined figures give the pairing first
place in this category.
OVERALL
A good tyre. With two firsts in the categories ”dry” and
”wear” Trail Attack is the overall winner. On the R 1200
GS the Conti was not only stable, neutral and easysteering,
but could also show its qualities in giving good
mileage. Only in the wet could we have wished for a bit
more grip.


Dunlop Trailmax D607

During acceleration in a straight line there was some
movement from the front tyre. Changing course
demanded physical effort and the tyre is not as easyhandling
as the Conti or Metzeler. High cornering stability,
solo and with passenger, is very convincing. Not even
during acceleration out of corners with a passenger was
there much sideways movement from the rear tyre. Less
good is the inherent suspension across uneven surfaces.
In all, it has a wooden feel. Braking performance with a
deceleration of 8.9m/s² and a braking distance of 43.3
metres from 100kph are acceptable.
WET
64 points, place 6:
When leaned over, the tyre slides rather early with the
rear wheel. Even during acceleration does the Dunlop
have too little grip and starts spinning much too early. Due
to lack of grip, the rider has to take wide turns for less lean
angle. Braking performance in the wet is only average,
with 6.7m/s² and a braking distance of 57.6 metres.
WEAR
74 points, place 2:
6,300 kilometres for the rear tyre is half good, but Dunlop
takes points because of its high mileage. Theoretically,
more than 23,000 kilometres are possible with the front.
OVERALL
In the total evaluation, Dunlop takes fourth place – sharing
it with Bridgestone, but many points come from its
extreme wear performance from the front tyre. Handling
on dry and wet roads leaves the impression of a tyre with
a wooden, hard quality. Good stability in the corners,
though.

Michelin Anakee II

122 points, place 7:
Already at a steady pace on the street, a certain instability
is noticed and in corners it gets worse. Added to that are
tendencies to drift at the rear during acceleration out of
corners. The general behaviour of the Anakee is good, but
the tyre shows some instability with a passenger. Braking
performance is not excellent with 9.0m/s² and 42.9 metres
from 100 kph.
WET
80 points, place 2:
In the rain, the Anakee II is brilliant. Excellent grip
combined with easy steering result in the second quickest
lap on a wet circuit. Braking performance is also good,
with 7.3m/s² and 52.8 metres from 100kph. Added to that
is good feedback about grip and the condition of the road
surface.
WEAR
73 points, place 3:
The theoretically high mileage possible with the Anakee II
gives it a place on the rostrum, thanks to almost 7,300
kilometres for the rear and circa 14,500 kilometres for the
front.
OVERALL
Opinions are divided about the Anakee II. For riding in the
rain, the French rubber is highly recommended. On a dry
surface, however, the R 1200 GS remains easy to handle,
but at the same time shows some instability. Helped by its
wear qualities it takes sixth place in the total evaluation.

Bridgestone Battle Wing

150 points, place 4:
Battle Wing convinces with steady manners riding in a
straight line, but gives somewhat less feedback and has a
narrower warning zone than some of the competition.
Steering into a corner, the tyre feels inert and then lacks
handling, but is above all less precise in holding the line.
Stability in corners is good and it will not move much even
with a passenger. Deceleration of 9.2m/s² is a good value.
Less good is the tendency to stand up during braking
leaning over.
WET
72 points, place 4:
Rear wheel starts spinning rather late during acceleration
in a straight line, but begins sliding without warning leaned
over. In total, the warning zone could be a bit wider, even
for the front tyre. Brake performance is only average with
7.0m/s² and 55.1 metres from 100kph.
WEAR
65 points, place 5:
With a calculated total distance of circa 7,000 kilometres
the rear tyre lasts long, but the front tyre gives up rather
early, at about 10,800 kilometres.
OVERALL
The problem with the Battle Wing-pairing from
Bridgestone is the rather narrow warning zone, above all
in the wet. Stability in a straight line and in corners is on
the other hand good. Less good is its wear and the total
sum of points is 287, giving it a fourth place, shared with
Dunlop.

Avon Distanzia

Due to the large block pattern, there is a tendency of
movement in a straight line. Good grip during acceleration
out of corners, but light drifting from the rear. Falls easily
enough into a corner from an upright position, but almost
too easily. Light tendency to stand up when braking into a
corner. Deceleration of 8.8m/s² is just acceptable. With
43.8 metres Avon records the longest braking distance.
WET
52 points, place 7:
Very narrow warning zone: The Avon slides without
warning with both wheels and the rear tyre spins very
early during acceleration. Even on the over-run the
Distanzia can lose grip. Clear weaknesses during braking
on wet: With a deceleration of 5.8m/s² and a braking
distance of 66.5 metres from 100kph, the Avon loses a lot
to the competition.
WEAR
73 points, place 3:
With a calculated distance of close to 6,600 kilometres for
the rear (front tyre 18,300 kilometres) the Distanzia
manages a mid-field position.
OVERALL
Through its nervous behaviour in the test sections in the
dry and lack of grip in the wet, the Avon Distanzia scores
badly. When it comes to wear, the verdict is much more
positive. This gives the Distanzia a total sum of 269 points
out of 400, enough for seventh place.

Pirelli Scorpion MT 90

162 points, place 2:
High cornering stability solo, but even with a passenger
very little instability is noticed. Feedback is somewhat
wooden and when it comes to handling the MT 90 is not
on the same level as the Conti Trail Attack. Its true
strength is above all braking performance in the dry, with
9.6m/s² (braking distance is 40.2 metres from 100kph) and
its very fine stability in a straight line.
WET
71 points, place 5:
Grip in corners and during acceleration are on an
acceptable level and feeling for the front tyre leaning over
is good. Only under heavy acceleration does the rear tyre
start spinning. Its manners in the warning zone are on the
whole acceptable. During braking on wet roads Pirelli
takes a mid-field position with 6.8m/s² and a braking
distance of 56.7 metres from 100kph.
WEAR
60 points, place 6:
With a life span of about 5,500 kilometres this rear tyre is
the first in the test to be changed. The Pirelli is no tyre for
those who want the most miles from their tyres. The front
looks a bit better with a calculated life of 13,900
kilometres.
OVERALL
It leaves a very good impression in the dry, but is only
average in the wet and has the shortest life span in the
test. Pirelli Scorpion offers a little of everything – but does
not excel at anything. In all, it is enough for third place, but
we don’t recommend it for those riding long distances or
often do their riding in the rain.

Metzeler Tourance EXP

In a straight line the Metzeler is slightly more nervous than
the tyres from Bridgestone, Continental and Pirelli.
Generally, it is a light-steering tyre and only feels nervous
in extreme lean angles. During heavy acceleration, a slight
tendency to drift is felt from the rear, but it doesn’t get
worse with a passenger. Very good braking performance,
second best in test together with Conti. Feedback is also
very positive.
WET
90 points, place 1:
A top tyre for riding in the wet. On the test circuit the tyre
could be ridden to the absolute best lap times in the test,
with a wide margin. Grip is good, in corners as well as
during acceleration. Not even when you gas it suddenly,
does the tyre want to spin. EXP is light handling and holds
the line very precisely, with a wide warning zone. It is
simply fitting that it has good braking performance in the
wet as well.
WEAR
57 points, place 7:
The rear Metzeler will theoretically run 6,200 kilometres,
the front 9,200 kilometres. Together, these figures give a
disappointing seventh place in the category.
OVERALL
This is the recommended tyre for rain enthusiasts. If you
pick the Metzeler combination and then get to meet all
sorts of weather, you have the best companion you can
wish for. Tourance EXP has large reserves of grip and
very fine braking performance. Even in the dry, the
Metzeler is convincing and it is only at a really fast pace
that it may begin to feel a bit nervous. In spite of the worst
evaluation for wear, it is enough for second place overall.
